Before Awakening; or, An Unfinished Presence

I made Before Awakening to explore our desire to engineer a human being, and what remains beyond our ability to construct.

A body takes shape from floating points of light. We can change its proportions, its colours and its movement. Yet these increasingly convincing signs of life leave the question of consciousness unanswered.

The head remains absent. It holds open the distance between making something that resembles us and bringing someone into being.
